Making my Squares for the Traveling Afghan
I decided to make my squares using Pound of Love yarn in White and Elephant grey.
The fun part for me is always the gauge, which I rarely meet using the required hook size, but that’s what I get for being a relaxed crocheter. However, nothing is written in stone so if I have to make a few modifications so be it.
TBH, I was a little concerned with seaming the squares because of all the different patterns and number of stitches per square. Once I completed the designer’s pattern, my OCD kicked in and I decided to make a single crochet border of (42 sts) per side. Why 42 sts? Well I thought it would be easier to seam my squares with the same number of stitches per side. So after making the first season, I took an average of the stitches used and rows worked. You see how my brain works. Voila 42 stitches!
Once the season wraps up I am joining my squares using Pound of Love in oxford grey, using the SC JAYG with a PLT seaming method. Check out how to work this technique on my IGTV or Youtube Channel.
