The 2025 Jimmy Beans Blanket Club

In June’s Kit #6 we will crochet 2 Stripes and 1 Block.

Kit #6 - Color F is Beach Glass.

From top to bottom - Stripe 11, Block 8 and Stripe 12

This is the Beachy Keen color pallete, we started at the top with Sage Advice in Kit #1 and Toasted Marshmallow in Kit #2. Kit #3 introduces Clean Slate. Kit #4 is Misty Morning. Kit #5 is Herb Garden! Kit #6 is Beach Glass, which is not in the correct order on this diagram. Please refer to the starter guide for the list of colors.

We’re half way there!

This month’s color is Beach Glass, it’s a beautiful addition to the blanket and really enhances the other 5 colors. I can’t believe we’ve reached the half way mark with this month’s kit.

What’s happening in this month’s kit?

This month we are working with colors F, A and E. We are adding to our striped panels with stripes 11 and 12, as well as creating another new block!

My tips for Kit #6

Stripe 11 Bead Texture - We are working into the stitches from Stripe 9 with color F. The Bead stitch is a fun and easy stitch to crochet, resulting in a spectacular textured fabric. You can watch the video created by the designer Lena Skvagerson if you need help. When blocked Stripe 11 - Color F should measure 24” in length and 2” in width. (Total width of Stripe is now 16”)

Stripe 12 Jacob’s Ladder - Using Color F, we are crocheting Jacob’s Ladder which looks like a fancy cable. This was a new stitch to me and I personally love the results. I found that this stitch created a fairly dense fabric, after a few attempts with larger and smaller hooks I opted to continue working with my 4mm hook which gave me the best results and was as close to gauge as I could get. When blocked Stripe 12 should measure 24” in length and 3” in width. (Total width of Stripe is now 11.25”)

Say hello to the new Block!

Block 8 - For this new block, we will be using colors A, F and E. We begin with a magic circle using Color A, then we create the daisy petals. I would caution to pay close attention when changing from colors E and F. It is very important to move your long resting loop and working yarn where they are supposed to be when working this square, if you forget to bring them forward you will have to rip out the round when you need to use that color again. It might have happened to me a few times LOL! If you’re in doubt, watch the video. Blocked measurement is 5” square.

Finishing touches - This Kit works up quickly and next thing you know it’s time to weave in those ends and block your pieces to the finished measurements. Save the remaining yarn for future stripes or blocks.
