Voila, the time has come!

This month’s color is London Fog, a dark muddy shade that frames the blanket beautifully. What’s happening in this month’s kit?

In our final month we are working with our featured color L, as well as the remaining colors to make our tassels and complete our blanket.

My tips for Kit #12

This month we are seaming, steaming and weaving in those ends… some of my personal favourite things to do!

Stripe 18 - Using Color L, we are going to work into Stripe 17, using the Waffle Stitch. This is a relatively easy stitch to crochet which creates a delicious waffle stitch! It’s the last of our Stripes and we can finally start to assemble. Woo hoo!

Final Assembly - We are now joining our Blocks which will frame the stripe panel. I used a variety of seaming techniques, to add my special touch to the seams. My go-to seaming technique is the (SC CJAYG with PLT), single crochet, continuous join as you go with pull the loop through method. I used several colors to work this technique and I love the results.

I then decided to work a single crochet along the Side Sections that I was going to be joining to the stripe sections (170 sts), when I followed the pattern instructions I wasn’t completely happy with the results, again my go-to technique created a little more detail.

Upper and Lower Borders, are worked in a Linked Treble Crochet stitch which was so fun to crochet. I have worked linked stitches before but never a treble. I absolutely love this stitch. The last row is worked in the reverse single crochet (Crab Stitch). See my note about this row!

Left and Right Side Edges, are very easy to crochet and I found the 2 rows were a little underwhelming, so I decided to not work Row 2 as a slip stitch row, I worked Row 2 as a Single Crochet row and then finished the edge off with more row of the reverse single crochet (Crab Stitch).

NOTE: My preference would be to work the Reverse Single crochet (Crab Stitch) around the entire blanket in one continuous round.

The final step is the Tassels, which are totally optional, but I love a good tassel so I was not going to pass that up. I made mine a few inches longer because I was trying to use up as much yarn as I could.

I was so pleased that I never ran out of any of the yarn colors, even though I accidentally used the incorrect color for one square and decided to keep it as is. This also created a little disturbance when I joined the Corner Squares because the colors were to similar so I swapped sides and all was good!

My blanket is unique and there will be no others like it :)

The Club is now closed.

Jimmy Beans Blanket Club is closed for 2025 and you can no longer join the club, however, they will be having another blanket club in 2026 so follow them to get all the details when they become available.
